Bonsai Wire

Bonsai wire is one of the most important tools for shaping and developing a tree. It allows you to carefully guide branches and trunks into the desired position while creating movement, structure, balance, and the overall design of your bonsai.

Our bonsai training wire is designed to be strong, flexible, and easy to work with, making it suitable for everything from positioning young branches to making larger structural changes.

Choosing the correct wire size is important. As a general rule, the wire should be approximately one-third the thickness of the branch being wired and strong enough to hold the branch securely after it has been positioned. Multiple wire sizes are often used on a single tree depending on branch thickness.

• Shaping and positioning branches
• Adding movement to trunks and primary branches
• Creating and refining branch structure
• Lowering or raising branches
• Developing foliage pads and secondary branching
• Training young trees as they develop

Always monitor wired branches as the tree grows. Once the wire begins pressing into the bark, it should be removed to prevent unwanted scarring.
